Capabilities

The Rescue Fire Company provides a number of technical rescue, fire suppression, and life safety capabilities. In addition, our members attend a number of in-house and state level training programs to be certified in various areas of emergency services. Our constant vigilance in the training arena has made us one of the premier heavy rescue companies in Central Pennsylvania.

 

Fire Suppression

Rescue Fire Company has two Engines and and a Tanker capable of carrying a total of 3,500 gallons of water. All of our active members are required to attain certification at the PSFA FireFighter I level. Although, we are a heavy rescue unit at heart, the majority of our calls are fire related. We constantly train on the basics of fire fighting and fully support our members as the attain higher level certifications such as PSFA FireFighter II or the PSFA Fire Officer programs.

Technical Rescue

Rescue Fire Company has been a technical rescue company since it obtained it first Rescue vehicle in 1974. Over the years our technical expertise grew along with the size of our Rescue. Today, our Rescue is equipped to handle a large number of scenarios and our water rescue fleet is responsible for a 3 mile stretch of the Susquehanna River.

Members who are qualified to participate in technical rescues are required to attain at least an Operational level of proficiency in the area. Many of our members have certified at the Technician level for these technical skill or are Instructors themselves.

Medical Assistance

Rescue Fire Company is routinely dispatched to assist EMS on emergency calls in hopes that we can provide basic medical services before an ambulance arrives. Our medically trained members consist of certified First Responders, EMTs, and Paramedics.
